There are six council seat vacancies to be filled this week and for the second week in a row we have an unorthodox polling day for one of them. Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is holding its by-election on Wednesday.

Wednesday's by-election was triggered by the resignation of the incumbent, who had represented this largely rural ward - in both its current boundaries and previous boundaries - since 2019. A member of local independent group the Tunbridge Wells Alliance, her colleagues are not contesting this by-election, so we have a free-for-all. The Alliance were also absent from May's elections, so the winner will be decided from the same four parties.
