An eight day lull was obliterated last Sunday when eight boats were picked up carrying an average of 78 colonists per vessel. Two more followed the next day, followed by another lull that continued for the remainder of the week.
One of those eight boats picked up on Sunday included a whopper carrying 140 colonists that departed much further south than the usual area around Calais. As a consequence, the dinghy travelled a much longer path towards Hampshire as opposed to Kent. Outrageously, it was shadowed for almost its entire journey - ten hours - by the French coastguard. The French claimed that it was 'not safe to attempt to stop the dinghy on water'. Funny, because as soon as it crossed into British waters the collaborator vessels had no such issues stopping the boat and getting its occupants on board.
The UK government has paid France well over a billion pounds to stop small boat crossings since 2018. The most recent deal, signed in April this year, commits an eye watering £662 million over three years. It would cost the Royal Navy a tiny fraction of that to merely sink one dinghy - that's all it would take to stop the boats coming. All the treaties and deals are a charade. The reality is that neither the UK or French governments want to stop the boats - they are the biggest people smugglers of all.
On a lighter note, the flash mob that gathered in Portsmouth to greet the 140 migrants off that boat was very much well received by the wider public - regardless of what gutless politicians from the likes of Reform say about these lads. If our own government and His Majesty's Armed Forces won't lift a finger to defend these shores, what else are right-minded patriotic Britons supposed to do!
