HYPOCRITES ON THE MARCH

As proceedings inside the Commons rumble on, thousands of remoaners gather outside calling for the Leave mandate to be overturned.  Some of them like to refer to Leave voters by the racial term 'gammon'.  Funny that, because we struggled to find anything but gammon on their march today...

ADONIS PREACHES TO THE NORTH

Despite failing to get elected to his beloved European Parliament, Lord Adonis was back on the remoan trail big time today.  He did a media circuit that included Sky, Bloomberg and LBC, where he faced a rather exasperated Nick Ferrari.  On Sky he was asked about Wigan MP Lisa Nandy's opposition to a second referendum, to which he basically replied that northerners should be bribed into submission and told that the Leave mandate should be ignored (see video below).

Capital-dwelling Remainers like Adonis have still not learned from the mistakes of 2016 and they cannot see that for Labour to lurch towards hard Remain could mark the beginning of the end for Labour not only in the north, but also the Midlands and Wales too.  As Lisa Nandy tweeted despairingly on election night, Britain does not cease to exist beyond the M25.

FIRST MINISTER IGNORES ANOTHER VOTE

First Minister of Wales Mark Drakeford is repeating the same old self-defeating establishment line that "we know best".  By ignoring the 2016 referendum result and by ignoring a huge win for the Brexit Party last night he is potentially shoring up a potential collapse in Welsh Labour similar to that which has seen Scottish Labour plummet from government in 2007 to third place a decade later.

When the assembly is re-elected in 2021 are Welsh voters going to back a party that persistently ignores them?  Not clever stuff from leftie Corbyn-lover Drakeford.

CORBYN REACTS

Jeremy Corbyn spoke to the BBC earlier and was clearly as grumpy as ever to be asked awkward questions.  Laughably he claimed that Labour's Brexit policy was "very clear all along".  Yes Jeremy, everyone was so clear about where you stood on Brexit that you lost two million votes, both to Leave and Remain parties, finished third and were completely wiped out in three regions.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS OUT OF THE PRAM

Labour remoaners have been expressing their disgust at Labour's second referendum fudge.  The snowflakes have been chopping up their membership cards and tweeting their outrage.  A fine selection of the latest rattle-throwing exercise can be found below.

LABOUR FUDGES REFERENDUM POLICY

Labour's National Executive Committee has decided to back a second referendum going into the European Elections.  Sort of.  The NEC have agreed to include it on campaign literature, but would only actually commit to it on two conditions - if there are no changes to May's deal and/or no general election.  Talk about a fudge!

The deliberately misleading policy is open to all sorts of interpretation and is clearly aimed at retaining Labour Leave voters.  A spokesperson confirmed this tactic by stating that "Labour is the only party which represents both people who supported Leave and Remain".  All things to all people!

The decision will anger many Remainer MPs and MEPs who have been demanding that the party campaigns on a second referendum as a concrete unconditional pledge.  Some MPs welcomed the news, others said it didn't go far enough, while others denounced any talk of a second referendum whatsoever.  Former Labour frontbencher Lisa Nandy hammered remoaner Alastair Campbell on Politics Live earlier today.  The Wigan MP accused Campbell and the so-called 'People's Vote' campaign of "breaking democracy".  Watch below.

Labour Brexiteer Graham Stringer also issued this strong condemnation of the proposal.

Don't worry too much Graham, whatever they decide it will probably be reversed within weeks of the election!

Graham Stringer is the Labour MP for Blackley & Broughton in Greater Manchester.

WATSON'S REMAIN CRUSADE

Not content with yesterday's u-turn on the Euro leaflets, Tom Watson is demanding a concrete pledge on a second referendum in the party's Euro manifesto.  Tom is desperate to overturn the 2016 result, so it's no surprise that he wants to overturn the last Labour manifesto that famously stated "Labour accepts the referendum result"...

Tom Watson and co must be working on the assumption that this will attract voters from the hard Remain parties of Green, Lib-Dem, Plaid/SNP and of course the so-called 'Change UK'.  Sadly for Tom it will also alienate swathes of Labour Leave voters like many in Tom's own 68% Leave voting constituency.

JOHN MANN HUMILIATES REMOANER

Pro-Brexit Labour MP John Mann had the perfect response for a remoaner who tweeted him with a 'People's Vote' demand.  Turns out the remoaner is the Lib Dem candidate who stood against him in 2015 and 2017.  Oh dear...

Mann's Bassetlaw constituency backed his Brexit stance in 2016 by returning a hefty 68% Leave vote.  That's the same Leave percentage as West Bromwich East, but the MP there sings a different tune...

MOST SHARED: WEEK 206

They not only attended the Loser's March, they posed for photos, tweeted updates and - in the case of Tom Watson and Jess Phillips - addressed the crowd.  They are all truly shameless individuals.  A BTLP original, this has been shared 881 times via the Facebook page.

For the full list of the MPs that attended the march please click here.

MELANIE G-ONN

Melanie Onn has resigned from Labour's front bench in order to defy a three line whip on voting for a second EU referendum.  The (now) former Shadow Minister for Housing represents Great Grimsby, one of the most pro-Leave constituencies in 2016 with a whopping 71%.  Melanie's majority in Grimsby was almost halved between 2015 and 2017, so in voting against the second referendum she clearly has an eye on safeguarding her seat.

Melanie Onn refused to back a second referendum

Three other front benchers abstained from the vote - Andrew Gwynne, Ian Lavery and Jon Trickett.  A number of backbench Labour MPs also rebelled or abstained.  It seems that the so-called 'People's Vote' is going to cause some grief for the party in the weeks ahead.

CAMPBELL TWEETS REMAIN HIT LIST

Remoaner Alastair Campbell has tweeted a list of Labour MPs who either voted against or abstained on the second referendum option tonight.  Presumably this is a call to action for Remainers to lobby (and harass) these MPs...

DAFT DAVIES' FASCIST TWEET

Geraint Davies is the Labour MP for Swansea West.  He's a hardcore remoaner who promotes Project Fear scare stories and recently defied party whips to back the second referendum amendment.  On Saturday he was a surprise absence from the Loser's March, but his Twitter account was busy and shortly after 3pm he issued this beauty...

It's an astonishing tweet.  Firstly, the march was anything but democratic.  It's sole purpose was to instigate the reversal of a democratic vote - the Leave vote of June 2016.  Secondly, his reference to a "fascist state" was something that you'd expect to find on the pages of some obscure Marxist publication, not attributed to a Member of Parliament.  In any case, surely the only people that could be described as 'fascists' were those marching to overturn a democratic decision!

TRAITORS ON THE MARCH

Apparently some sections of the Loser's March today were singing "Where's Jeremy Corbyn" as opposed to "Oh Jeremy Corbyn".  This was in response to the notable absence of said Great Leader (and lifelong Eurosceptic).  He was in Lancashire.  His deputy Tom Watson was at the march, but there weren't many other frontbenchers in attendance - if any, in fact.  Nope, not even Keir Starmer.  There were plenty of backbench MPs present though and here's our list of the traitors on show...

Stella Creasy (Lab, Walthamstow) - gave an interview in which she defended her presence and outrageously claimed that she "absolutely respected how people voted in 2016".  The balls on that woman!
Alison McGovern (Lab, Wirral South)
Rachael Maskell (Lab, York Central)
Chi Onwurah (Lab, Newcastle-upon-Tyne Central)
Kevin Brennan (Lab, Cardiff West)
Stephen Doughty (Lab, Cardiff South & Penarth)
Anna McMorrin (Lab, Cardiff North)
Jo Stevens (Lab, Cardiff Central)

All four Cardiff MPs - Brennan, Doughty, McMorrin & Stevens (plus Owen Smith photobombing)

Phil Wilson (Lab, Sedgefield) - Tony Blair's successor, ironically his constituency returned a 59% Leave vote.
Ian Murray (Lab, Edinburgh South)
Stephen Morgan (Lab, Portsmouth South) - his constituency returned a 52% Leave vote.
Owen Smith (Lab, Pontypridd)
Chris Bryant (Lab, Rhondda) - Captain Underpants was there, despite his recent cancer diagnosis.  Rhondda returned a 60% Leave vote.
Peter Kyle (Lab, Hove)

Chris Bryant, Peter Kyle and Owen Smith

Meg Hillier (Lab, Hackney South & Shoreditch)
Siobhain McDonagh (Lab, Mitcham & Morden)
Catherine West (Lab, Hornsey & Wood Green)
Clive Lewis (Lab, Norwich South)
Kate Osamor (Lab, Edmonton)
Lloyd Russell-Moyle (Lab, Brighton Kemptown) - attended despite his 'ordeal' on Thursday!

Kate Osamor (second from left), Clive Lewis & Lloyd Russell-Wotsit

Neil Coyle (Lab, Bermondsey & Old Southwark)
Janet Daby (Lab, Lewisham East)
Alex Sobel (Lab, Leeds North West)
Daniel Zeichner (Lab, Cambridge)
Susan Elan Jones (Lab, Clwyd South) - her constituency returned a 60% Leave vote.
Chris Elmore (Lab, Ogmore) - his constituency returned a 59% Leave vote.
Mary Creagh (Lab, Wakefield) - her constituency returned a whopping 63% Leave vote.

Mary Creagh managed to find someone even more odious than herself - James O'Brien

Liz Kendall (Lab, Leicester West) - her constituency returned a 51% Leave vote.
Wes Streeting (Lab, Ilford North) - his constituency returned a 53% Leave vote.
Barry Sheerman (Lab, Huddersfield) - his constituency returned a 52% Leave vote.
Steve Reed (Lab, Croydon North)
Rosie Duffield (Lab, Canterbury)
Dave Lammy (Lab, Tottenham)

Two politicians who despise our country - Nicola Sturgeon & Dave Lammy

Rosena Allin-Khan (Lab, Tooting)
Gareth Thomas (Lab, Harrow West)
Marsha de Cordova (Lab, Battersea) - a pleasant surprise while we were compiling this list, she follows us on Twitter!
Catherine McKinnell (Lab, Newcastle-upon-Tyne North) - her constituency returned a 57% Leave vote.
Tom Watson (Lab, West Bromwich East) - one of the main speakers, Tom's constituency returned a huge 68% Leave vote.
Jess Phillips (Lab, Birmingham Yardley) - fake feminist Jess took the stage with Tory MP Dominic Grieve.  Her constituency returned a 60% Leave vote.

Jess Phillips didn't look very comfortable sharing the stage with Tory MP Dominic Grieve

Dominic Grieve (Con, Beaconsfield) - shared the stage with Labour's Jess Phillips.

Ian Blackford (SNP, Ross, Skye & Lochaber) - the only SNP MP at the march?  Seriously?  Nicola Sturgeon clearly isn't the big draw she once was.

Caroline Lucas (Green, Brighton Pavilion)

Vince Cable (Lib-Dem, Twickenham)
Jo Swinson (Lib-Dem, East Dunbartonshire)

Heidi Allen (TIG, South Cambridgeshire)
Mike Gapes (TIG, Ilford South)
Chris Leslie (TIG, Nottingham East)
Gavin Shuker (TIG, Luton North) - his constituency returned a 59% Leave vote.
Angela Smith (TIG, Peniston & Stocksbridge) - her constituency returned a 61% Leave vote.
Anna Soubry (TIG, Broxtowe) - her constituency returned a 53% Leave vote.
Chuka Umunna (TIG, Streatham)
Sarah Wollaston (TIG, Totnes) - her constituency returned a 54% Leave vote.

TIG MPs Umunna, Soubry, Shuker, Gapes, Leslie and Wollaston (Heidi Allen & Angela Smith not in photo)

We tried to make this list as comprehensive as possible, but if we've missed anyone out please put in the comments below.

CORBS FLED NORTH

As the limp-wristed left marched in their thousands in London, the Great Leader was nowhere to be seen.  Perhaps it was no surprise for a lifelong EU critic, but Jezza had got himself as far away as possible.  Despite being a London MP, he made a 250-mile-plus trip to canvass in Leave-voting Morecambe, Lancashire, on the day of the march.  Here's the tweet to prove it...

Canvassing traditional Labour voters eh, Jez?

STREETING THEATRICS

Labour's Wes Streeting wins the award for most over-the-top tweet of the week.

It's no wonder Labour MPs are so scathing of May's statement.  The truth is that MPs are largely to blame for the current impasse, and those MPs are predominantly Labour.  Labour MPs overwhelmingly blocked May's deal.  Twice.  Labour MPs overwhelmingly rejected no deal and overwhelmingly voted for the dreaded extension.  Now they are moaning that the extension is not long enough!

Streeting is a prominent supporter of the so-called 'People's Vote' campaign.  Given the contempt with which Labour MPs regard the 52%, perhaps it should come as no surprise that the constituency he claims to represent voted LEAVE by 53%.

REMAINERS VS REMOANER

Bullshit and bluster from Blair this morning as Morgan and Reid teamed up against him.  Both supported Remain in the referendum, but unlike remoaner Blair they have some respect for the result!  Morgan scored some good hits on the Euro (supported by Blair, opposed by Brown) and, of course, Iraq.  Wrong then, wrong now Tony...

LOSER'S VOTE AMENDMENT

The Sarah Wollaston (Independent Group) amendment on staging a second EU referendum has been heavily defeated by 334 votes to 85.  Keir Starmer had already indicated that Labour would not back the amendment, despite the party's recent policy u-turn on a second referendum.  Starmer, like most of his Labour colleagues, abstained from the vote as directed.  However, 25 Labour MPs still voted in favour of it, but only four of those represent Leave constituencies.  18 Labour MPs voted against.

The 25 Labour MPs who voted FOR the Wollaston amendment

HEIDI APPEALS TO VERHOFTWAT

Heidi Allen of the Independent Group appears to have ideas way above her station.  While EU negotiator Verhoftwat plays hard ball on the surface, the reality is he doesn't want Britain to leave and is still pinning his hopes on a cancellation or a 'Loser's vote' (as hopeful Heidi and her fellow TIG remoaners want).

YES/NO/WAFFLE

Earlier today Sophy Ridge put a very complex question to Sir Keir Starmer - does Labour want Britain to Leave the EU or not?  Obviously it was never going to be a yes or no response, but what we do know with absolute certainty is that Keir Starmer does NOT want Britain to Leave the EU...
