COUNCIL BY-ELECTIONS 22.05.25

It was very much a southern affair this week and all three seats were successfully defended by the Lib Dems.  The top four finish in each seat was identical - Lib Dem, Tory, Reform then Labour.  Labour's decline in vote share was not as dramatic this week, but they were starting from a low bar in these wards.  Reform continue to eat into the Lab-Con vote, entering each by-election as newcomers.

LABOUR DELETING E-GATES POSTS

Keir Starmer and his party really struggled to sell their EU surrender deal to the British people this week, epitomised by their focus on the use of e-gates.  It didn't appear to be much of a win, in fact Labour's repeated use of such a minor component of the deal was seen in many circles as a deliberate trolling of our own people.  The people bit back and within days the whole e-gates 'win' turned out to be just more spin and lies anyway.

One social media post put out from Labour's official X account has now been deleted, although it is not clear if this was because it was misleading or the backlash was too fierce.  Many people commenting on the post had been complaining that they could not afford to holiday abroad thanks to Labour's tax burden and ongoing cost of living crisis.

A similar post is still live on the Prime Minister's X account (at the time of writing).

The top rated comment on this post is from retired Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies who wrote: "Shame no fisherman will be able to afford to go on holiday!"  Others pointed out a lack of personal experience of these 'long queues' and that they could already use e-gates at some airports.

It is true that some European airports already allow Brits to use e-gates, while an existing plan to expand the use of e-gates for non-EU citizens is scheduled to come into effect in October anyway.  That plan is the sinister entry-exit system (EES), which will require Brits to surrender their biometric data ie. a facial scan and fingerprints in order to enter the EU.  This will then be stored in an EU database to allow future travel for each individual.  Dystopian and deeply disturbing.

While the EES is scheduled for October, long after your summer holiday, the EU cannot implement the use of e-gates for Brits at this point in time - or 'now' as Labour have clearly sold it.  The use of e-gates is currently at the behest of each member state.  Therefore, EU-wide use of e-gates is not something that the EU could genuinely agree to.  Did Starmer and his negotiating team know this, or did they conspire with the EU team to provide something - anything - to sell the surrender deal to the British people, knowing it was a lie?

So if you're going on holiday to the EU this summer, you could be using an existing e-gate or you may not be able to use one at all.  Yet another lie sold by Keir Starmer and his woeful government!

WOKE WEDNESDAYS #28

Admittedly, there are some on the right who cannot stand President Trump.  There are two main groups - one is occupied by people who claim he is not all that he appears ie. a controlled opposition plant, while the other possess a simpler train of thought, they just really don't like him.

However, both camps are usually open to the admission that Trump's second coming has made some significant and positive changes.  One of those is the debate around trans issues, which had become the most prominent example of the Clown World lunacy enveloping the West.  A distraction it may have been from much more pressing issues such as mass migration and the climate scam, but still a truly damaging development that was ultimately intended to harm our children and destroy lives.

Shortly after returning to the White House, Trump signed an executive order banning biological males from competing in female sports.  It was a commonsense approach.  Regardless of how far advanced their so-called 'transition' has gone, the overwhelming majority of these troubled males will always possess a physical advantage over their female competitors.  In October 2024 a United Nations report claimed that female athletes had lost out on almost 900 medals to biological males 'across 29 different sports'.  However, it not specify which sports and at what level of competition these medals were lost, leading many to believe that the real figure is much, much higher.

While Trump's order is not universal - privately owned leagues and clubs are thought to be exempt - and is subject to certain legal challenges, most education authorities and sporting bodies fell in line.

The Supreme Court decision in the UK on what constitutes a female also led to exclusions for males from women's sports, as reported in last week's edition of Woke Wednesday.  Slate him if you like, but the Trump effect is plain to see.

This week's meme features trans athlete Robert Ludwig, who calls himself 'Gabrielle'.  Although he is legally recognised as a 'woman' in socialist California and has undergone 'reassignment surgery', he clearly towers above his basketball team mates.  This exemplifies everything that is wrong with men in women's sports.  Unfair, unjustified, immoral.

Last week's Billie Eilish meme generated 19 comments and six shares on Facebook.

TORIES FOURTH IN NEW POLL

The latest YouGov poll suggests Keir Starmer's tough talk on migration has had little effect on his party's popularity, quite the opposite in fact.  Labour have actually dropped a percentage point, while Reform UK have gained one.  The most significant aspect of the poll is the fact that the Tories have slumped into fourth place behind the Lib Dems, garnering their lowest ever vote share in the history of the polling organisation.

The poll was carried out between the 18th and 19th of May.  Here are the changes (in brackets) against the previous YouGov poll, carried out between 11th and 12th of May.

Reform UK = 29% (+1)
Labour = 22% (-1)
Lib Dem = 17% (+1)
Conservative = 16% (-2)
Green = 10% (+1)
SNP = 2% (-1)
Plaid = 1% (n/c)
Others = 2% (-1)

Kemi Badenoch's faltering leadership is probably on borrowed time, with her defeated leadership opponent Robert Jenrick currently engaged in an aggressive social media campaign to portray himself as a hard right alternative to both Badenoch and Nigel Farage.  The problem with Jenrick is that he is no more detached from the Tory party's disastrous last term than Badenoch, and his attempt to paint himself as a real conservative now is too little, too late.

Another catastrophic performance in next May's elections could prompt a leadership challenge, but all this will achieve is to merely rearrange the deckchairs on a sinking Tory Titantic.

PATRICK O'FLYNN (1965-2025)

Prominent Brexiteer Patrick O'Flynn has sadly passed away at the age of 59.

O'Flynn became a familiar face in the campaign to leave the EU, initially advancing the cause through his position as the political editor of The Daily Express.  He departed the newspaper in 2014 to pursue his goal through UKIP, becoming Nigel Farage's director of communications.

He was selected as the party's lead candidate for the East of England in the 2014 European elections and consequently served a full five year term.  He endured a fractious relationship with Farage and publicly lashed out after the latter was re-elected party leader in 2015.  In an interview with The Times newspaper, O'Flynn described Farage as 'snarling, thin-skinned and aggressive'.  He later apologised for the remarks.

O'Flynn stuck with UKIP after the Leave vote in 2016, but later became disillusioned with the party's direction and left in 2018, ostensibly in protest at then leader Gerard Batten's decision to appoint Tommy Robinson as an advisor.  Joining the Social Democratic Party, O'Flynn became the party's most senior elected representative as he served out the final year of his term as MEP.  In 2019 he chose not to defend his seat, which was subsequently won by Richard Tice of the Brexit Party.

Since leaving Brussels, he continued to write for publications such as The Spectator and was a regular guest on GB News.

Mr O'Flynn was a native of Cambridge and studied economics and journalism, prior to joining The Daily Express.  He passed away shortly after being diagnosed with liver cancer and is survived by his wife, Carole Ann, and two children.

Nigel Farage paid tribute to his one time political rival, writing on X: "So sad to hear of the passing of Patrick O’Flynn.  Paddy was a great journalist, a great thinker, a great patriot and a titan of our joint cause.  Thank you Paddy."

Boris Johnson also paid tribute: "Sad to hear of the loss of Patrick O’Flynn - a truly original conservative journalist who grasped the causes of much of the current discontent.  His pieces were always punchy and persuasive.  He will be missed."

Kemi Badenoch wrote: "This is dreadful news.  I can’t quite believe it.  My husband and I always enjoyed Patrick’s company.  He often messaged me with thoughts on politics.  We’d agree on substance then argue over tactics.  I teased him about being a secret leftie…but my goodness, he loved this country.  Such sad, sad news to end the day.  May he rest in peace."

With the latest Euro globalist get together for Ukraine and the EU-UK Surrender Summit, there was a Eurovision theme present in last week's toons.  Starmer's resurrection of a Tory immigration policy (that never deported a single migrant) also featured strongly, while Dave Brown of the The Independent was clearly upset about Starmer's immigration act...

The week began with Starmer talking tough on immigration, as a direct response to the Reform surge.  An opinion poll conducted by Opinium on behalf of the left-wing Observer after his big speech suggested that Reform had extended its poll lead by three points.  No-one believes him!

CORBYN CAN'T TAKE IT

Last week we reported on the tit for tat exchange between Jeremy Corbyn and Lee Anderson in the House of Commons.  Labour's Angela Eagle didn't see the funny side of Anderson's deportation quip and neither did Corbyn.  A few days later he complained to the deputy speaker, accusing Anderson (who was not present at the time) of 'innuendo, abuse, fundamental inaccuracies and conjecture'.

Corbyn did not address his own initial stab at the Reform group, which appears to suggest it's ok for him to give it, but not take it.  The deputy speaker - Labour's Judith Cummins - declared in response to Corbyn that nothing 'unparliamentary' had taken place.

Corbyn's exchange with Cummins, preceded by the original exchange can be seen below.

Corbyn's support for mass uncontrolled immigration is not disputed.  He took issue with Anderson's remarks that 'more than 600 illegal migrants' arrived that day and they 'could' get up to mischief, including crimes and 'maybe' even acts of terrorism.  We know from official government figures that 601 migrants landed that day - a fact Jez - and the suggestion that these people could commit crimes is not 'conjecture'.  They have already entered the country illegally and we know from countless acts of terrorism across the continent that Islamist migrants pose a significant and deadly threat to our security.

For Lee Anderson, Corbyn's embarrassing lack of humility presented another opportunity for what ordinary people might refer to as 'banter'.  The Reform MP posted an 'apology' to his social media accounts, ending with another funny dig at Corbyn...

Never stop, Lee!

BOATWATCH #10

Last week began with a flurry of boats - 19 in total - followed by a dramatic lull.  Arrivals on Monday topped 600, just as Keir Starmer was making his immigration pitch to try and see off the Reform threat.  Embarrassing timing.

We also note that the big drop off in arrivals occurred on Wednesday, the day after Patrick Christys of GB News spent a day in Calais exposing migrants awaiting their chance to join in the invasion of Britain.  Video clips of Patrick's stoic reporting went viral and a few days later it appeared that French police raided the warehouse featured in his report.  Was it just a coincidence that boat arrivals stopped within 24 hours of his report or is he correct in claiming that GB News prevented more small boat arrivals than Keir Starmer has managed in almost twelve months?

Total = 1,125 (an increase of 1,067 from the previous week).

COUNCIL BY-ELECTIONS 15.05.25

Four seats were up for grabs on Thursday and it was another stunning week for the Reform UK juggernaut.  They were fighting all four seats for the first time and won two.  In Norfolk they took a seat from the Conservatives and in Stoke-on-Trent they completely annihilated the defending Labour party, receiving almost three times as many votes.  They also scored an impressive second place in Dunbartonshire, where they pushed the SNP all the way to the final round of counting.

So has Chairman Starmer's immigration rhetoric had an impact on voters?  Not judging by these results, where Labour's vote share plummeted by double digits in all four seats.

A TALE OF TWO FACES

As Keir Starmer handed a brutal reposte to Plaid Cymru's Westminster leader, the reactions of the women seated either side of him were polar opposite.  Flanked by Reeves and Rayner, the PM faced a question from Liz Saville-Roberts regarding his recent 'hard line' speech on immigration.  The member for Dwyfor-Meirionnydd pointed to previous remarks made by Starmer supporting migrants and freedom of movement, contrasting them with quotes from his speech earlier this week.

"Is there any belief he holds which survives a week in Downing Street", she asked.  Starmer rose to his feet and delivered a robust and uncharacteristically humorous response: "Yes, the belief she talks rubbish".

The response to his quip from Reeves and Rayner couldn't have been more different.  Reeves burst into animated laughter, slapping her thighs and turning to colleagues on her left to share in the amusement.  Rayner, meanwhile, sat emotionless and barely moved.  There was a faint hint of a smirk breaking out initially, but she contained it and ended up looking almost bemused, slightly annoyed even.  One would be forgiven for thinking that Starmer had just insulted her own mother (while Saville-Roberts is as English as Rayner, despite her adopted party, she is no relation).

Watch the clip below.

What can we read into Rayner's reaction at PMQs?  Is her relationship with Starmer strained?  Does she have aspirations for the top job?  Was she merely a feminist upset that Starmer had made a disparaging remark to one of the girls?

One thing is for certain, Starmer needs to watch his back if he is to survive this parliament.  If the vultures come for him, make no mistake there will be a member for Ashton-under-Lyne circling with the rest of them.

WOKE WEDNESDAYS #27

The globalist capture of Tinseltown and the entertainment industry is well known, but the regime became ever more brutal following the simultaneous rise of both Trump and cancel culture.  Actors and musicians who dared to speak out in favour of the Donald could expect to see their careers go down the pan faster than last night's vindaloo.  Even rumours of a Republican leaning are enough to cause a stir, as Jurassic World star Chris Pratt discovered when he refused to fall in line with the orthodoxy and back Kamala Harris.  Even though he did not endorse Trump, either, he faced a leftist backlash regardless.

According to Wikipedia, less than 90 actors and musicians publicly endorsed Donald Trump prior to last year's presidential election.  The same site names over 700 actors and musicians who endorsed Kamala Harris.  One of them was sombre Gen Z singer Billie Eilish.

Following Trump's landslide victory she lashed out publicly during a concert, accusing the president elect of being a misogynist who 'hates women so, so deeply'.  As with much of the bizarre rhetoric perpetuated about Trump, her rant was as dumb as it sounded, even before considering the fact that not every single concert goer necessarily aligns with her values and they certainly did not pay an extortionate sum to hear political commentary.  Sing some songs!

Eilish had earlier declared on Instagram that Trump's victory was a 'war on women'.  Much of her logic is built on the leftist narrative around abortion rights, which demands that unborn babies have no rights to life if the prospective mother decrees it - for whatever reason.  It's hardly a bullet proof feminist argument, given that around half of all babies are female and therefore plenty of women's lives are being snuffed out before they are even born.

Then there is the accusation against Trump himself.  He has undoubtedly made derogatory comments towards women in the past, but as a man approaching his late 70s he was raised in a whole different world to the Clown World of Gen Z singers.  And yet Trump was nothing but gracious and delicate when it came to meeting his beloved Queen Elizabeth II or then PM Theresa May.  Does a man who 'hates women so deeply' also spend decades married to the same woman - his third wife no less - and permit that woman to become a highly visible and influential First Lady?  This supposed rabid misogynist also spent more than a decade married to Ivana, with whom he conceived his first daughter who later went on to become a prominent member of his first administration.

Then there is his current administration, which is packed full of girl bosses.  Some of his female appointees hold very senior cabinet members such as Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, Brooke Rollins and Linda McMahon.  Others are household names such as the former Democrat Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and the ferocious White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

A rank woman-hating misogynist Trump isn't.  A crazed out of touch leftist on the wrong side of history young Bille Eilish is.

WOKE WEDNESDAY #4 - UPDATE

Last October we discussed the case of a 17-year-old female footballer who had been charged with 'misconduct' after she took exception to facing a bearded male opponent.  Following an FA hearing, she was banned for two matches, with a further four match ban suspended for one year.  She was also ordered to complete an online DEI course.

The case drew protests from women's rights campaigners and was raised in the House of Lords by Lord Triesman.  An appeal hearing in February initially quashed the original verdict and ordered a new hearing.  The case was then dropped altogether, but only after the complainant withdrew from the process.

Now the young footballer has gone public, doing a round of media interviews and demanding an apology from the Football Association.  Cerys Vaughan, now 18, says she has no sympathy for biological males who want to compete in female sports.  An interview with this principled young woman can be found on the BBC here.

Following the Supreme Court ruling on biological sex, the FA banned so-called trans 'women' from the female game earlier this month.  Now give Cerys her apology!

ANDERSON JOKE FALLS ON DEAF EARS

Lee Anderson delivered a humorous swipe at Jeremy Corbyn in the Commons this week, but it was met with a stony faced response from Labour's Angela Eagle.

The former Labour leader now sits on the opposition benches just behind the Reform group of MPs, a point he made in a disparaging remark that got Anderson to his feet.  Corbyn was clearly angry about Starmer's migration speech and asked if his successor was 'trying to please these people who unfortunately sit in front of me'.  Nigel Farage can be seen chuckling as Corbyn speaks.

Watch the clip below.

After responding to Corbyn, immigration minister Angela Eagle gave way to Anderson.  He pointed out that more than 600 illegals had crossed on Monday alone and challenged the minister to agree that such people should be detained upon arrival and deported 'along with the member for Islington'.  Anderson gestured towards Corbyn as he did so, Jezza having represented Islington North since 1983.

Eagle took advantage of the joke in order to not answer the question and instead issue a miserable rebuke towards both Anderson and his party.  Despite having a history of animosity towards Corbyn during his Labour leadership, including repeated public sniping and a failed leadership challenge, Eagle spoke glowingly of Corbyn.  It seems that shit sticks together on both wings of the party when it comes to the dreaded Reform.

Anderson's Reform colleague James McMurdock can be seen having an exchange with Corbyn as Eagle delivered her response.

Watch the clip below.

Eagle's bizarre suggestion that Anderson may not have been joking and Reform could somehow 'deport' Corbyn was mirrored by some demented leftists on social media.  One called for him to be 'suspended' for the remark, while completely ignoring Corbyn's earlier jibe.  Another called for Corbyn to 'sue' Anderson.

NOTE:  Jeremy Corbyn is a British citizen, born and bred here to British parents.  Even if it was possible to deport him somewhere - which would be illegal on every imaginable level - to which country do these leftists imagine that Reform would send him?

It's just as well that we still have MPs like Anderson who, unlike the left, possess a sense of humour.  He is without doubt one of the most entertaining members ever to grace the floor of the Commons and we hope he keeps his place there for many years to come.

TOON TUESDAY #56

Starmer's desperate attempts to portray his US trade deal as a success has been largely rubbished by cartoonists, while his new 'hard line' on immigration saw him compared to Nigel Farage in some rags.  With VE Day commemorations taking place last week, there is a wartime theme running through some of these efforts.
