WOKE WEDNESDAYS #49

As if we didn't already know from two summers of weekly protests, the left despise the state of Israel.  And sharing a trait with some elements of the far right, it's not enough to simply voice opposition to a state that routinely attacks and occupies neighbouring territories.  All too often, the left take out their frustrations on ordinary Jews, who they perceive to be linked to a hive mind that makes them equally to blame for the criminal actions of Netanyahu.

The same people call other white people 'racist' if they dare generalise other ethnic groups with negative stereotypes.  But it's OK for the left to do that with Jews - they are fair game - as are white people (the 'gammon' and the 'Karens').

It's rank hypocrisy, but of course such things do not apply to the high and mighty of the self-righteous left.

They have no problem at all in taking a Jewish folk hero and turning their life into a public display of ridicule, purely as a means to insult as many Jews as possible.  And that's what has happened in New York of all places.  It's probably no coincidence that in order to maximise the insult, they chose a city that is home to the largest Jewish population of any city in the world - that's including Israeli cities.

Yes, woke playwright progressives have taken Anne Frank - the most iconic of all the Nazis' Jewish victims - and turned this innocent teenager into a pansexual Latino girl in a relationship with a 'non-binary' person.  They have also thrown in a 'neurodiverse' family in just for progressive measure.  The fact that Anne Frank was barely 15 years old when she died doesn't seem to matter to these degenerates.

The play, entitled Slam Frank, has drawn staunch criticism from Jewish groups.  Naturally, they perceive it as 'disrespectful', which is clearly the intention of the writer.  You see, the people who preach the most about hate, are the most hateful people of all...

The previous Woke Wednesday (dog free zones) generated 37 comments and 18 shares on Facebook.

PARLIAMENT SERVES HALAL/KOSHER

Two Labour MPs are celebrating today after meat from ritually slaughtered animals was put on the menu at Westminster.  Zarah Sultana (Coventry South) and Charlotte Nichols (Warrington North) had campaigned for halal and kosher meat to be made available in Parliament and they have confirmed that a trial has now begun.

The cruel method of ritual slaughter, in which animals are killed without being stunned, is banned or restricted in a small handful of Western countries.  There are currently no restrictions in the UK, contrary to recommendations of the government's advisory body - the Farm Animal Welfare Council.  The group says that ritual slaughter 'causes severe suffering to animals'.  The RSPCA also condemns the practice.

There should be no place for such barbaric methods in any Western democracy that values animal welfare, but sadly it is permitted across North America and most European countries.  For it to be served up in the Houses of Parliament is nothing short of sickening.

Sultana is a Muslim, while Nichols is a Jewish convert.

FAR LEFT EMBRACE ROONEY

The far left have heaped praise on an Irish author who refused to have her latest novel translated into Hebrew.  In a statement Sally Rooney (pictured, above) said: "I simply do not feel it would be right for me under the present circumstances to accept a new contract with an Israeli company that does not publicly distance itself from apartheid and support the UN-stipulated rights of the Palestinian people".  How Israel must weep!

Rooney has allied herself with the Palestinian-led BDS movement (Boycotts, Divestments and Sanctions).  The stated aims of BDS are to 'end Israeli occupation and colonisation of all Arab lands', ensure the return of Palestinian refugees and enable 'full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens'.  BDS is supported by hard left parties and movements across the West and has found itself dogged by persistent claims of anti-Semitism.

Critics have pointed out that Rooney's condemnation of Israel is full of hypocrisy.  It has now been established that Rooney's book was translated into Mandarin by a publishing house backed by the Chinese Communist Party.  Where is her outrage?  Presumably she would similarly accept an Arabic translation, despite the widespread oppression of women across the Arab world?  Of course, given the decadent subject matter of Normal People, there is little chance of such a translation.

Naturally, Rooney describes herself as a Marxist.  Hypocrisy and selective feminism is the hallmark of a communist.

One of those who has found a new heroine in Rooney is Labour's young Coventry MP, Zarah Sultana.  Earlier this week she tweeted the author's name alongside a green heart, an interesting choice of colour.

Green is a colour strongly associated with Islam, less so communism.  She could have just as easily used the Palestinian flag, which is also available as an emoji on Twitter.

Just three days earlier Sultana had tweeted about a small multi-faith gathering between Muslim and Jewish women, aimed at building 'solidarity across communities'.  Wonder how these Jewish ladies feel about their MP's ringing endorsement of Rooney?

The following day Sultana attended another event, this time a celebration of languages.  Yes, the same woman who three days later would applaud an author who discriminates based on language.

This is the left, the home of hypocrisy.

ANTI-SEMITIC CHANTS AFTER MP'S SPEECH

As we wrote last month, left-wing Labour MPs are far from innocent when pro-Palestine rallies turn into anti-Israeli hatefests.  They rile up the crowds with fiery speeches and then retreat as things turn ugly.  The presence of hard left Labour MPs at these rallies was well documented at the time, but in recent weeks it has emerged that moderates were also involved.

Last week Naz Shah was forced to defend herself after it was revealed she addressed a rally in which anti-Semitic slogans were chanted and her colleague Geraint Davies has now been implicated in a similar incident.  In a video posted to social media, the MP for Swansea West can be seen addressing a crowd in Swansea.  Immediately after his speech two men lead the crowd in several chants, including: "Khybar, Khybar ya yahud, Jaish Muhammad, sa yahud".  This refers to a battle fought between Jews and Muslims in the 7th century and translates literally as: "Jews, remember Khaybar, the army of Muhammad is coming".

At this point Davies can be seen standing close by in a black face mask.  Click below for the one minute clip.

Davies responded on Twitter after the Jewish Chronicle published the story, using the same defence as Shah ie. that he doesn't speak Arabic.  That argument would have held more credence had it not been undermined previously by Shah, who tweeted in Arabic just days after claiming she didn't understand the language.

It's clear from the video whose side Davies is on.  It's quite ironic that he should surround himself with Islamo-fascists, considering that this ultra remoaner spent years resisting the Leave mandate, labelling Brexit a 'fascist' endeavour.

BEEB MAN'S JUDAISM TWEET

Despite a commitment to political neutrality, the overwhelmingly left-wing culture of the BBC is rarely far from the surface.  Given the current delicate situation in the Middle East, one would expect the Beeb's Middle East editor to exercise some restraint, but instead he tweeted the following.

As some Twitter users quite rightly pointed out - Bowen wouldn't dare post an article entitled: Racism, hate and violence are Islamic values.  But then this is from a guy who works for an organisation that on Saturday ignored thousands of anti-lockdown protesters outside its gates and instead made a beeline for the Palestinian flag-waving leftists elsewhere in London.

Typically, for a man who earns more than £200,000 of licence-payers' money, the article shared by Bowen is behind a paywall.

A TWEET TOO FAR FOR BARRY

Avid tweeter Barry Sheerman often lets rip without putting a great deal of thought into his posts.  On Sunday the Huddersfield MP strayed into the realms of anti-Semitism with a tweet about 'silver shekels'.  Asked to elaborate on what he was referring to, Barry doubled down by naming two prominent Jewish businessmen who he joked had been rejected for peerages.

Hapless Barry quickly deleted the tweets and embarked on an evening of grovelling apologies, issuing three tweets around 45 minutes apart.  Looks like daft Barry put more thought into these...

Barry's inability to put his brain into gear before he spouts off is something that he exercises beyond social media.  Despite his constituency backing Leave in 2016, Barry told the Beeb in 2017 that 'better educated people voted Remain'.  Watch below.

No wonder Barry's majority crashed from more than 12,000 to less than 5,000 on December 12th.

RUSSELL-MOYLE QUITS

The hard left continue to cancel themselves as another member of Starmer's front bench departs.  Lloyd Russell-Moyle has stood down as Shadow Minister for Natural Environment and Air Quality blaming the 'right-wing media' for causing him 'stress'.  His appointment to Starmer's front bench raised a few eyebrows at the time given his past behaviour.  In December 2018 he grabbed the ceremonial mace in the Commons and marched off with it before handing it back and being thrown out.  A year later following his re-election as the MP for Brighton Kemptown he gave an extraordinary acceptance speech in which he ranted and raved like a lunatic.  In the last few weeks he has issued two apologies - one for a spat over trans rights with JK Rowling and the other for comments on Jewish claims to Israel.

Russell-Moyle has released the following statement on his resignation.

Russell-Moyle is the second double-barrelled departure in less than a month following Rebecca Long-Bailey's sacking.  The mini-exodus leaves a tiny handful of Corbyn loyalists on Starmer's front bench, the most senior of which is Andy McDonald (Shadow Secretary of State for Employent Rights and Protections).

Corbyn critic and former Labour MP Ian Austin mocked Russell-Moyle's decision on Twitter, calling it 'heartbreaking'.  The Jewish Labour Movement also welcomed his departure, releasing the following statement.

JEWISH CHRONICLE FRONT PAGE

The Jewish Chronicle has made a bad day even worse for Jeremy Corbyn as they published tomorrow's damning front page - today!  The newspaper published the full page spread online this morning, directly urging all British people to oppose Corbyn.

The full text:

The vast majority of British Jews consider Jeremy Corbyn to be an antisemite. In the most recent poll, last month, the figure was 87 per cent.

Putting oneself in the shoes of another person, or another group, can be difficult. But we believe it is important - and urgent - that you do that. Perhaps the fact that nearly half (47 per cent) of the Jewish community said in that same poll that they would “seriously consider” emigrating if Mr Corbyn wins on December 12 will give you an indication of what it feels like to be a British Jew at a time when the official opposition is led by a man widely held to be an antisemite.

There is racism on all sides of politics and it must be called out wherever it is found. History has forced our community to be able to spot extremism as it emerges - and Jeremy Corbyn’s election as Labour leader in 2015 is one such example.

Throughout his career, he has allied with and supported antisemites such as Paul Eisen, Stephen Sizer and Raed Salah. He has described organisations like Hamas, whose founding charter commits it to the extermination of every Jew on the planet, as his “friends”. He has laid a wreath to honour terrorists who have murdered Jews. He has insulted “Zionists” - the word used by antisemites when they mean “Jew” because they think it allows them to get away with it - as lacking understanding of “English irony”.

There were some who hoped that he might change as leader. The opposite has happened. The near total inaction of Mr Corbyn and the rest of the Labour leadership in dealing with antisemites in the party has both emboldened them and encouraged others.

Indeed, Mr Corbyn and his allies have actively impeded action against the racists.

Instead of listening to and learning from mainstream Jewish bodies such as the Board of Deputies and Jewish Leadership Council, Mr Corbyn has treated them and their recommendations with contempt - and given support to fringe organisations set up solely to deny the existence of Labour antisemitism.

Is it any wonder Jews worry about the prospect of Mr Corbyn as prime minister?

Yet, while we see all this, we also see an election being fought in which antisemitism in the Labour Party, inspired by its leader, is mentioned only occasionally as an afterthought. Brexit, austerity, the NHS, education and myriad other issues are, of course, vital. But how can the racist views of a party leader - and the deep fear he inspires among an ethnic minority — not be among the most fundamental of issues?

That is why we are seeking your attention. If this man is chosen as our next prime minister, the message will be stark: that our dismay that he could ever be elevated to a prominent role in British politics, and our fears of where that will lead, are irrelevant.

We will have to conclude that those fears and dismay count for nothing.

But we think you do care.

We believe that the overwhelming majority of British people abhor racism. We ask only that, when you cast your vote,you act on that.
