ASH EXPLOITS CAPTAIN TOM

Labour activist Paul Embery has lambasted his hard left colleague Ash Sarkar over her response to the death of Captain Tom.  Paying little heed to the mood of the nation, but playing to her Brit-hating audience, Sarkar chose not to pay tribute and instead used his death to lash out at lockdown sceptics.  She also echoed the views of many leftists on Twitter by making the point that Sir Tom's death was no more worthy of merit than any of the other 100,000 victims (within 28 days of a positive test).

Embery, who has clashed with Sarkar before, is worlds away from her woke metropolitan far left position.  A working class patriot, Embery espouses the values of Blue Labour.  His recent book Despised dealt with the modern left's detachment from and disgust for the working classes and their values.  No wonder he and grammar-school educated Ash don't get on.

Embery is also a lockdown sceptic, which is no great surprise given Blue Labour's embrace of so many conservative values.  Responding to Sarkar he pointed out that lockdown scepticism does not necessarily mean a lack of compassion for our elderly.

If a deadly virus comes along that primarily kills the sick and elderly, wouldn't it just make more sense to isolate the sick and elderly, rather than lock down our whole society and consign thousands of young people to perish as well?  Surely the approach supported by lockdown enthusiasts is twice as cruel and if anything lockdown sceptics are actually capable of displaying more empathy?

Meanwhile, Sarkar could barely contain her spite by issuing another tweet just after 6pm in which she mocked the 'clap for Tom', something that had been endorsed by both main party leaders.

The irony is that many lockdown enthusiasts would probably endorse martial law if the BBC said it was a good idea.

DESPISED

Paul Embery is a member of the Labour Party, but he has just released a book in defence of the working class - in particular the attitude of the left towards the proletariat.  In fact Despised is subtitled "Why the Modern Left Loathes the Working Class".  Predictably the response of the intolerant left has been to label him a 'fascist', much to the amusement of Embery and his supporters.  Have any of them actually read his book?  Highly doubtful.

Embery is a curious, but laudable case.  He was a lifelong trade unionist until he was thrown out after appearing at a pro-Brexit rally.  As an exponent of Blue Labour he rejects globalism and uncontrolled mass immigration in favour of a civic socialism that shares many conservative values.  Unlike the hard left - that seeks to undermine and ultimately dismantle the family unit - Blue Labour endorses family values as central to its politics.  The ideology was founded by Labour peer Lord Glasman and more information about it can be found here.

Former Labour MP Kate Hoey and Conservaive journalist Tony Parsons are among those who have endorsed Embery's book.  Last week Hoey tweeted that his book is what "every Labour Party member needs for Christmas".  It's probably a must for many conservatives too (large and small c).

BLUE IS THE COLOUR

The Blue Labour pressure group has today released a series of tweets so damning of the current Labour party that the group is trending on Twitter.  Read on.

Blue Labour was founded in 2010 by Maurice Glasman, now Lord Glasman.  The group espouses a brand of socialism that embraces aspects of conservatism, including notions that are despised by the hard left such as patriotism and limits on immigration.  Many in Blue Labour also endorse the Leave mandate, including Brendan Chilton and Glasman himself.

Needless to say, the intolerant left regard Blue Labour as 'hard right' or even fascist.  The intricacies of what Blue Labour represents, including inherent values of socialism such as trade unionism, are lost on them.  The fact that Lord Glasman is a Jew is also a major trigger, despite his largely neutral stance on Israel.  There is little hope for Labour while such hatred blinds their internal debate.

WHITTOME LASHES OUT

Labour MP Nadia Whittome was embroiled in a public spat with a Labour member on Twitter last night.  Paul Embery, a columnist with Unherd, took exception to Whittome's stance on the trans issue currently wreaking havoc in the party.  Whittome is backing the controversial trans pledge sheet and has tweeted that the party should "educate those who are ignorant... and if they don't respond to education, they should be expelled".  Embery quite rightly pointed out the communistic undertones in her tweet, but also struck out at the MP's relative youth (she is 23, the youngest MP in Parliament).  Whittome retweeted his remarks with an ageist dig of her own.

Embery describes himself as 'blue Labour' and was a senior trades union officer until recently.  After speaking at a pro-Brexit rally last year he was expelled by the Fire Brigades Union (see video, below).  Not sure what Whittome is referring to when she says his 'red-brown alliance' was rejected, but what we do know is that Corbyn's red-red ideals were decisively rejected on December the 12th.  The Nottingham East MP initially backed hard left Clive Lewis for the leadership.  When he was eliminated, she backed Emily Thornberry.  Oh dear.  Talk about irrelevance?
