Far left MP Zarah Sultana almost had a hissy fit on Wednesday's edition of Politics Live. She said she felt 'uncredibly unsafe' in the Commons to see so many Tories not wearing face masks - despite the fact she is just 28 and has no underlying health conditions as far as we're aware. When fellow guest Julia Hartley-Brewer mocked her stance, poor Zarah got herself a bit worked up.
Click below for the clip.
Thanks to a written request from Tory backbencher Steve Baker, we now know that the mortality rate of Covid is around 0.096 per cent. That is an overall sum that accounts for all deaths, including the overwhelming majority which are in the sick and elderly. As Sultana is neither sick or elderly, she is more likely to die falling down a staircase in the Commons, choking on a halal chicken sandwich from the Commons menu or being sat on by Emily Thornberry.
As alluded to by Hartley-Brewer, Sultana's mask stance is also choc-a-bloc with hypocrisy. In the many recent photographs to be found on her social media accounts, Zarah is not wearing a face covering in any of them. We can also call into question her supposedly deep-rooted concern for vulnerable groups too. This is just a small selection...
Nov 2 - Meeting the President of Bolivia, a 58-year-old cancer survivor. Indoors, up close and not a mask in sight!
Oct 29 - Indoor gathering in Coventry, sandwiched between two elders
Oct 26 - Gathering outside Parliament with hard left allies including Nadia Whittome and 72-year-old Corbyn. OK, so this is outdoors, but in her Politics Live outburst she declared that MPs should wear face masks 'around the estate' - so fair game...
Oct 20 - Again in the Westminster grounds, this time standing alongside 60-year-old Green MP Caroline Lucas
Oct 20 - Inside the Commons with comrade Charlotte Nichols. So much for wearing face masks 'around the estate'
Oct 16 - Joining Sikhs and Hindus for their festivities, but look at all those elderly Sikh men perilously close to young maskless Zarah
Oct 2 - Remember when Zarah said 'hundreds of MPs not wearing masks is a dangerous message to send'. Well, here's Zarah standing in the middle of around 60 people - of all ages - at the Young Muslim Partnership Programme in Oxford. Not one person is wearing a face mask
Sept 26 - It says 'Young Labour', but Zarah is inches from 72-year-old Corbyn. This was the Labour conference, from which there are countless more photos of Zarah and she is not wearing a face covering in any of them
Labour's Socialist Campaign Group has backed a call from the far left Stop the War Coalition for 'reparations' to Afghanistan. A statement from the SCG was signed by 19 of the groups 35 members, plus six Labour peers (see below).
The statement mirrors that published by the Stop the War Coalition on its website two days earlier. The statement includes the following: "The British government should take a lead in offering a refugee programme and reparations to rebuild Afghanistan, an act which would go a great deal further in advancing the rights of the Afghan people, women in particular, than continued military or economic intervention in the fate of the Afghanistan".
Now that the Taliban is back in power, how on earth do these buffons expect reparations to be used to 'advance the rights of Afghan women'? Furthermore, what reparations did their beloved Soviet Union pay after they left Afghanistan? How about those communist invaders cough up first, as a gesture to the West?
The Stop the War Coalition was founded ten days after the September 11 attacks by Lindsey German, a far left activist who was at that time a member of the Socialist Workers Party. Among the early sponsors of the group were Labour MPs Tony Benn, Jeremy Corbyn and George Galloway. Rallies organised by the group have been addressed by many hard left MPs over the years, including Diane Abbott, Richard Burgon, John McDonnell and Caroline Lucas of the Greens. During its twenty-year existence the group has also been backed by the SNP and Plaid Cymru, as well as the Communist Party of Britain.
On its website the group boasts how it was "one of the main organisers of the massive protests against Donald Trump". Funny that, considering that during his presidency Trump did not embark on a single foreign conflict. Further proof that Stop the War is just another front for communist agitators, for whom revolutionary uprisings are much higher on their agenda than 'peace'.
Thousands of Remainers attended an online conference on Saturday to discuss their movement's next course of action. The event was laid on by European Movement UK, a globalist pressure group that has been pushing for European integration since 1949. The current chair of EMUK is crazed Labour peer Lord Adonis, who made Saturday's joint closing address alongside ex-Tory peer Lord Heseltine, the organisation's president.
Other participants in the event included former Labour MEPs Richard Corbett and Jackie Jones, plus Momentum's Laura Parker. Corbett chaired a discussion entitled "What's next for our movement?" which included a contribution from former Tory MP Dominic Grieve. Current Labour frontbencher Ian Murray was also scheduled to speak, but pulled out at the last minute, possibly after an intervention from his party leader. Starmer has repeatedly tried to distance Labour from the 'rejoin' cause and the presence of one of his frontbenchers at this conference would have been acutely embarrassing.
The nine hour event also heard from Green MP Caroline Lucas, Lib Dem MP Daisy Cooper, former Tory MP David Lidington and Deborah Meaden of Dragon's Den fame. According to an event listing, 3,266 attended the virtual conference.
EMUK was one of the recipients of half a million pounds donated by George Soros to various anti-Brexit groups in 2018. It will come as no great surprise to anyone that Soros is listed as an agenda contributor to the World Economic Forum, architects of the Great Reset. Arch Remainer Tony Blair is also a WEF agent.
When Trump supporters stormed the Capitol there were howls of condemnation from Twitter users denouncing the attack on democracy. Nothing wrong with that per se, except many of those individuals were severely tainted by having spent four years trying to overturn the Leave mandate of 2016. Leading Remainers such as Keir Starmer and Caroline Lucas tweeted in defence of democracy, but with no sense of irony on their part...
Both of these tweets sparked a huge response from Brexiteers pointing out their shocking hypocrisy. Two Conservative politicians were among those making such points. Susan Hall, leader of the Tory group on the London Assembly, took exception to Caroline Lucas.
She later added...
Andrew RT Davies, the former Wales Tory leader took exception to Starmer's tweet.
These fairly innocuous tweets by Hall and Davies provoked a furious response from Labour Remainers, including Chris Bryant, Mark Drakeford, Dave Lammy and Angela Rayner. Both Bryant and Rayner complained directly to Amanda Milling, the chair of the Conservative Party. Bryant demanded that Davies be suspended and barred from standing in the next Senedd elections (see letter below).
However, it was Rayner's letter that really caught our attention. She also demanded that both Hall and Davies be suspended and prevented from standing in future elections (see below).
Sharing her letter on Twitter, Rayner referred to the comments as 'unacceptable and dangerous'. It's also interesting to note that she states that the comments were 'inflammatory' and 'have no place in British political debate'.
Click below for footage of Angela Rayner calling a Tory opponent 'scum' in the House of Commons. This happened just three months ago.
To coin Susan Hall's phrase - 'pot, kettle, black'.
A cross-party group of MPs and peers have joined forces with a group calling itself 'The Citizens' to launch legal action against the UK government. According to a website belonging to The Citizens they have written to the Prime Minister giving him a two week ultimatum to answer questions about alleged Russian involvement in UK elections - by which they mean, of course, the 2016 EU referendum. Although the group is playing down its real agenda, there is no doubt about who is driving this legal threat and why.
Before we look at who is behind The Citizens, let's look at the list of MPs and peers who are reportedly signatories to their threat of legal action.
Ben Bradshaw (Labour MP for Exeter). Bradshaw is one of the most extreme Remainers on the Labour benches. He went against the party whip and refused to back the triggering of Article 50 in 2017. In December 2016 he was ridiculed after claiming that Russian interference in the referendum was 'highly probable', despite admitting that there was no evidence (see video below). Bradshaw is still so bitter about Brexit that he recently announced he now supports the breakaway of Remain voting Scotland and the end of the United Kingdom.
Chris Bryant (Labour MP for Rhondda). Another ardent Labour Remainer who refused to back the triggering of Article 50. He is a former chair of the pro-EU Labour Movement for Europe. Like Bradshaw, Bryant has form when it comes to making unfounded allegations about Russia. In 2012 he blamed Russia for exposing the picture that led to him being nicknamed 'Captain Underpants'. He also later blamed Russia for trying to oust him from his position as chair of the all-party Parliamentary group on Russia.
Caroline Lucas (Green MP for Brighton Pavilion). Another unapologetic Remainer who refused to back the triggering of Article 50. A former MEP, Lucas has twice led her pro-EU Brexit-blocking party and was a prominent figure in the so-called 'People's Vote' campaign.
Alyn Smith (SNP MP for Stirling). Remainer Smith was elected to Parliament in the 2019 general election, prior to which he was an MEP. Last year he was forced to apologise after making unsubstantiated claims about the Brexit Party, labelling it a 'money laundering front'. Despite being a so-called Scottish nationalist, on Brexit Day he addressed a crowd in Stirling announcing that he was 'born European' and wants to 'remain European'.
Lord Strasburger (Lib Dem peer). A Remainer peer who has donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to his anti-Brexit party. He was pictured at a Remain rally in 2018 alongside Westminster's resident remoaner Steve Bray.
Baroness Wheatcroft (Conservative peer). A Remainer peer who has spoken out many times against Brexit, including a pledge to sabotage the Leave mandate by stalling its progress through the Lords. She addressed a Remain rally in 2017 and in 2019 claimed that Britain is a 'Remain country' and Leave voters were 'wrong'.
So these are the six politicians named by The Citizens as co-signatories, some of whom have enthusiastically confirmed their support on Twitter. All of them are unquestionably Remainers, but what about the people behind The Citizens group?
More than thirty people are named on the 'About us' section of their website, the most prominent of which is journalist Carole Cadwalladr. Carole is famous for spreading conspiracy theories about Brexit, in particular claims of Russian involvement. She has earned many nicknames among Brexiteers, including 'Conspiracy Carole' and 'Carole Codswallop'. The BBC's Andrew Neil once likened her to a 'crazy cat lady' in a 3am tweet he later deleted.
Cadwalladr appears to be one of the main actors behind The Citizens and last year organised a GoFundMe site on their behalf which raised more than £350,000. Although the page is titled 'Democracy: The Fight Back', the description makes it very clear that the campaign is solely dedicated to fighting Brexit and proving that the referendum was somehow fixed by Russia.
Speaking of foreign interference, many of the team members named on The Citizens website are not even British citizens. Paul Olivier Dehaye is a Swiss national. The Citizens' video editor Thomas Héléta is thought to be a French national. Also working on their video production is Irishman Sheridan Flynn who wrote an article last year labelling Brexit a 'festival of resentment' driven by English nationalists. At least ten other members of the team - Karim Amer, Geeta Anand, David Carroll, Alexandra Kondracke, Jehane Noujaim, Matt Rivitz, Angela Robinson, Cyndi Stivers, Bina Venkataraman and Shoshana Zuboff - are American citizens.
How ironic that one in three of the team members at The Citizens are not actually British citizens. When is foreign interference in our democracy not foreign interference? Ah yes, when they're campaigning against Brexit. Remember when David Cameron invited Barack Obama to come and lecture us Brits about the dangers of voting Leave? There was no need for conspiracy theories about that interference.
Matt Rivitz is the co-founder of Sleeping Giants, a left-wing group in America that targets pro-Trump news outlets and tries to close them down by intimidating advertisers. This defunding tactic has been emulated in the UK by hard left groups aiming to do the same thing to the likes of the Daily Mail and Express newspapers. Remember that The Citizens is styling itself as a pro-democracy organisation, yet it has on its team individuals dedicated to shutting down political opposition!
Rivitz is by no means the only Trump hater at The Citizens. Also named is Christopher Steele, a former MI6 officer who spent six months compiling a dossier alleging collusion between Donald Trump's presidential election campaign and Russia. Like much of the work carried out by his comrades at The Citizens, it is largely unsubstantiated.
Another purveyor of dodgy claims is Shahmir Sanni. He claims to have worked for the Vote Leave campaign and has made several allegations about illegal spending, although he cannot prove them.
So there we have it. The Citizens is undeniably a bunch of vociferous Remainers and like-minded Americans, all of whom share a hatred of Trump and a desire to rewrite history and portray democratic results that didn't go their way as the work of Vladimir Putin.
This legal challenge to the British government won't stop Brexit, it is merely a desperate act of vengeance by the bitterest of sore losers - something that we have already seen once this year already with the witch hunt against Dominic Cummings - a hate campaign that had nothing to do with lockdown travels, but everything to do with Brexit.
Following Labour's u-turn, the government's general election bill was passed in the Commons by a whopping 418 majority. It still has to pass through the House of Lords, but is likely to gain royal assent by the end of the week. Predictably it won't move as swiftly as the Benn Surrender Act did. Nothing moves that fast!
Embarrassingly for Corbyn almost half of his own MPs refused to back his newfound enthusiasm for a general election. 104 abstained in the final vote, while a further 11 voted against, making a complete mockery of Corbyn's triumphant announcement earlier in the day that his party was "totally united".
There were 20 MPs in total who opposed the final reading of the bill, many of whom clearly desperate to cling on to the Westminster gravy train for as long as possible. More than half of them were Labour, including the most despicable parasites of all ie. those who are standing down anyway at the next election, but who wanted to stay on and milk the system just that little bit longer. They are all unapologetic Remainers, so some of them will be fearing the election of a pro-Leave Parliament. We've put our suggestions for their main motives in italics. Obviously there's no doubting the motives for Change UK...
Labour
Adrian Bailey (West Bromwich West) - huge Leave vote in his constituency, running scared
Margaret Beckett (Derby South) - big Leave vote in her constituency, running scared
Ann Clwyd (Cynon Valley) - standing down, wanted to ride the train a bit longer
Paul Farrelly (Newcastle-under-Lyme) - standing down, wanted to ride the train a bit longer
Peter Kyle (Hove) - safe seat, doesn't think Labour can win
Dave Lammy (Tottenham) - safe seat, doesn't think Labour can win
Ian Lucas (Wrexham) - standing down, wanted to ride the train a bit longer
Albert Owen (Ynys Môn) - standing down, wanted to ride the train a bit longer
Barry Sheerman (Huddersfield) - has not yet been reselected, fears deselection
Owen Smith (Pontypridd) - announced after the vote that he is standing down, didn't think Labour could win
Daniel Zeichner (Cambridge) - recent poll suggests a Lib Dem surge could unseat him, running scared
Change UK
Ann Coffey (Stockport) - cheerio, cheerio, cheerio
Mike Gapes (Ilford South) - cheerio, cheerio, cheeri-oooo
Anna Soubry (Broxtowe) - cheerio, cheerio, cheerio, cheeri-oh
Plaid Cymru
Jonathan Edwards (Carmarthen East & Dinefwr) - constituency voted Leave, running scared
Liz Saville Roberts (Dwyfor Meirionnydd) - shrinking majority, running scared
Hywel Williams (Arfon) - wafer thin majority, running scared
SNP
Angus MacNeil (Na h-Eileanan an lar) - shrinking majority, running scared
Green
Caroline Lucas (Brighton Pavilion) - safe seat, fears a Brexit majority
Independent Unionist
Lady Hermon (North Down) - shrinking majority, running scared
Green MP Caroline Lucas has bizarrely called for an all-female unity government to stop a no deal Brexit. She has written to nine fellow Remain MPs, plus Nicola Sturgeon, asking them to join forces with her in forming a feminist anti-Brexit government in the event that the Johnson administration is brought down by a no confidence vote. Who would be the Prime Minister following Lucas's ambitious coup? Well, according to the Guardian, it could be none other than Lucas herself. Jo Swinson could be her deputy. It's sounds absolutely nuts, but this is the current political climate we are in and these people will do almost anything to stop Brexit from happening.
The recipients of Lucas's letter were all women and all Remainers:
Heidi Allen MP (Ind)
Kirsty Blackman MP (SNP)
Yvette Cooper MP (Lab)
Justine Greening MP (Con)
Sylvia Hermon MP (Ind)
Liz Saville Roberts MP (Plaid)
Anna Soubry MP (Change UK)
Jo Swinson MP (Lib Dem)
Emily Thornberry MP (Lab)
Nicola Sturgeon MSP (SNP, First Minister of Scotland)
Dear Colleagues
It is hard to remember a moment in my lifetime when Britain faced a greater crisis. A coup led by a small group of right-wing libertarians is all but complete, as the Vote Leave team has been re-assembled and taken control of 10 Downing St. They are set upon implementing the most extreme 'No Deal' version of Brexit - and, most terrifyingly, we are running out of time to stop them.
At times of national crises, political leaders need to bring a country together. But that is not happening. The government is hell-bent on creating more divisions, scapegoating our friends and neighbours, and ignoring the inequality and democratic deficit that fueled the Brexit vote.
We will only get through this crisis if we come together, from across the political spectrum, and set up an 'emergency cabinet' - not to fight a Brexit war, but to work for reconciliation. And I believe this should a cabinet of women.
Why women? Because I believe women have shown they can bring a different perspective to crises, are able to reach out to those they disagree with and cooperate to find solutions. It was two women who began the Peace People movement during the worst of the troubles in Northern Ireland; it was two women who were key to the signing of the Paris Agreement on climate; difficult, intractable problems have found the beginning of resolution thanks to the leadership of women.
That is why I am reaching out to you, not so that a small group of us decide on Britain's future, but so that we end the dangerous pursuit of a crash-out Brexit and find a way forward which allows the British people to decide which course to take.
It means denying Boris Johnson the reins of power with a no confidence vote, establishing a national unity government and then pressing the pause button in order to organize a confirmatory vote which offers people the choice of the status quo or pressing ahead with the latest government plan – whether that is a revised Withdrawal Agreement or, as seems more likely, a proposal to leave with no deal.
It also means a commitment that, as politicians, we accept the outcome of that fair, transparent and informed vote, even if it delivers a result we do not agree with.
I believe we can make this happen. I'm asking you to meet with me in the coming days, so together we can transform the conversation about Brexit. So together we can find a positive way forward, revitalize our democracy and stand up to this Government's reckless gamble with Britain's future.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Caroline Lucas MP
Considering that Caroline is from the painfully politically correct Green Party, the idea of an exclusively female government is hypocritical to say the least. Such is her party's dedication to gender equality that it has been traditionally led by a male and female co-leader for most of its existence. So why has she now ditched this 50:50 mantra in favour of a 100% female agenda? Is it a self-serving power grab so that she can claim the top job and ultimately the 'glory' for reversing Brexit?
Of course the irony of the so-called 'national unity government' is that it wouldn't be and couldn't be anything of the sort. It is dedicated to the overthrow of a pro-Leave government, replacing it with an exclusively pro-Remain government, one that would not merely be concerned with stopping a no deal Brexit, but would be committed to revoking Article 50 full stop. This would not lead to 'unity', it would lead to chaos.
The only recipient of Lucas's letter to respond publicly at the time of writing is Emily Thornberry.
I thank @CarolineLucas for her fight against Brexit, and I will always stand with her on a platform to Remain, but I worry her new proposed plan would not solve our country's divisions. The people must have the final say, not politicians from either side. Here's my full reply. pic.twitter.com/VByHbf9d7Y
Backdoor route to a National Government. Didn’t work for Ramsey Mcdonald and won’t work now, whatever the gender of the participants https://t.co/ru0CbHwrK4
But Clive Lewis was impressed, though he complained that Lucas had neglected to write to any BAME women.
.@CarolineLucas calls for emergency female cabinet to block no-deal Brexit> I think this a very interesting proposal.. One genuine question: Where are the BAME women politicians? 🤷🏽♂️ https://t.co/qQu5m6wsHV
What they all really need to realise is that Vote Leave won in 2016. If it has been "re-assembled" in Downing Street, as Lucas puts it, then we may actually have a chance to see the Leave mandate implemented. She wants to overturn that mandate. She doesn't want to "revitalise" democracy, she means to destroy it.
The ability of the left to mobilise on workdays is famous. Today is a little different as they've pencilled in their latest weekday exploits for 18:00 in the desperate hope that some actual working people will join them after their shifts. The protest has been organised by the far left 'People's Assembly' and will take place outside Downing Street to protest against the incoming Prime Minister. The great unwashed will hear from a plethora of speakers including little Owen Jones (who else?) and a number of Labour MPs (plus Caroline Lucas of the Greens, naturally).
McDonnell will be joined by his Labour colleagues Dickie Burgon, Ian Lavery, Laura Pidcock, Emma Dent-Coad, Dan Carden, Karen Lee, Laura Smith and Danielle Rowley. No doubt they'll all be demanding a general election on the basis that Boris is 'unelected'. As they continue to beat the drum of this shallow argument we will continue to point out the glaring hypocrisy of their argument. Gordon Brown wasn't elected PM either.
McDonnell, in particular, is more than familiar with the 2007 Labour leadership 'election'. Brown wasn't even elected by his own party, let alone the electorate. He was crowned Prime Minister unopposed. The only other challenger was none other than McDonnell himself, albeit he failed to garner enough nominations to get on the ballot. Maybe next time John.
Despite the impressive line-up of MPs planning to address the riff-raff, the Facebook page for today's demo has so far only attracted a couple of hundred people, despite the best efforts of little Owen and his incessant tweeting. No doubt things will pick up throughout the day and the media will gleefully report organisers' estimates of one million protesters (again). OK, well maybe not this time.
The first attempt by Remainer MPs to stop Brexit from happening in October failed this evening. The motion, supported by Labour, the SNP, Lib Dems, Plaid and Green MP Caroline Lucas, was defeated by 11 votes.
As the Tories cheered the result an angry Corbyn shouted across the chamber "You won't be cheering in September". Quite what he meant by that is anyone's guess. Perhaps he meant to say October, that would have made more sense.
Eight Labour MPs voted against the motion, crucially 17 abstained. Several opponents of a second referendum were among the abstentions including Ruth Smeeth, Melanie Onn and Gareth Snell. However, despite all her recent bluster, Lisa Nandy supported the motion. Note to people of Wigan - remember this.
Ian Blackford was furious about Labour's rebels and abstentions, directly blaming them for the motion's defeat in a furious tweet. "Unforgivable" he chuntered. Thankfully all ten DUP members were present and duly voted against the motion.
The eight Labour rebels who opposed Labour's motion were:
Kevin Barron
Ronnie Campbell
Jim Fitzpatrick
Caroline Flint
Stephen Hepburn
Kate Hoey
John Mann
Graham Stringer
On the Tory benches there were ten rebels that supported Labour's motion. All but three represent Leave-voting constituencies:
Make no mistake, this won't be their last attempt to stop us leaving in October. They will be back again soon with more of the same and the Speaker will be only too happy to oblige them...
Labour and the Remain parties are wasting no time in trying to block a future Tory Prime Minister from taking us out of the EU on October 31st. A motion has been tabled for tomorrow aimed at preventing a no deal Brexit. As we already know, Labour will not back the existing withdrawal deal, so this is simply about stopping Brexit and trying to force a general election.
Corbyn himself has signed off the motion, along with Ian Blackford (SNP), Vince Cable (Lib Dem), Caroline Lucas (Green), Liz Saville-Roberts (Plaid) and Oliver Letwin (Tory). The interesting thing to note about the last name - Letwin - is that he is backing Michael Gove in the leadership contest, a supposedly pro-Brexit candidate...
Labour has tabled a cross-party motion for tomorrow that would hand control of the parliamentary agenda on Tues 25 June to prevent a future Prime Minister proroguing Parliament to force through a no-deal Brexit against the will of Parliament. pic.twitter.com/oG4URZok9C
Shared 2,899 times via the Facebook page, although it would have probably have been second placed had Facebook not removed this post.
Chuka and his fellow remoaners (Green MP Caroline Lucas and Tory MP Justine Greening) could barely contain their delight as they delivered the 'People's Vote' petition to Downing Street last week. As with all remoaning activity they are smirking in the face of the only people's vote that matters - that of 23rd of June 2016. Speaking of 23rd of June 2016...
As the votes edged towards Leave in the early hours Chuka Umunna stated categorically that even if the margin was a single vote in favour of Leave, the decision should be respected. Funny then how Chuka has since devoted his entire political life to trying to overturn that decision.
