NOC ROTHERHAM?

Cllr David Sheppard has left the party

The deputy leader of Rotherham Council has become the latest Labour figure to quit the party in protest at the government's proposed benefit cuts.  Cllr David Sheppard said in a statement:  "To me, it is unconscionable that when faced with the financial crisis left to us by the previous Tory government, the Labour Party has chosen to target people who need support the most".

Cllr Sheppard continued:  "I have always held the belief that government should do what it can to equalise the injustices within society.  Sadly, this and other recent announcements have led me to conclude that this is currently not the case."

A lifelong party member, Cllr Sheppard has been an elected member of the council since 2016.  His resignation leaves the Labour group in Rotherham teetering on the brink of losing control of the council for the first time in its 51 year history.  With various resignations already clocking up nationwide and more expected, if three more councillors quit the Labour Rotherham group it will tip the council into no overall control.

ROTHERHAM TORIES MOCK LABOUR

Constituency Labour Parties up and down the country have been rushing to get their leadership nominations in ahead of Friday's deadline.  Rotherham CLP nominated on Thursday and opted for the hard left candidates, Long-Bailey and Burgon.  The local Conservative branch ridiculed the decision, pointing to the fact Labour's majority is already in terminal decline.  In fact it's currently the lowest Labour majority in the seat since 1923.

Rotherham's MP nominated Ian Murray for deputy leader, but did not endorse a candidate for the leadership.  Sarah Champion was one of 14 Labour MPs not to endorse a leadership candidate.

Sarah Champion (Lab) 14,736 (41.3%) -15.1%
Gerri Hickton (Con) 11,615 (32.6%) +6.2

Adam Carter (Lib Dem) 2,090 (5.9%) +1.2%
Dennis Bannan (Yorkshire) 1,085 (3.0%) -0.7%

PRITI GOOD RECOGNITION

The government is making some very promising noises at the moment.  The rhetoric surrounding post-Brexit negotiations, early release for terrorists, jobs for veterans and the environment is all positive and now we can add a couple of issues that have long been overlooked by both government and opposition.  When the Manchester grooming gang report came out a few weeks ago there was the usual deafening silence from the Labour benches, but there was no comment from the government either.  Step forward Labour MP Sarah Champion and the Home Secretary in a truly refreshing act of cross-party co-operation, albeit with Champion acting unilaterally.

In any other situation, a Labour MP's decision to work alongside a Tory minister would result in an avalanche of leftist abuse.  However, hardly a single spiteful comment has been passed on Champion's glowing tribute to Priti Patel, not from Labour's balloon head membership anyway.  Patel also tweeted an account of the meeting and preceded this with a Home Office statement on another touchy topic no-one in high office ever talks about - female genital mutilation.

Up until last year this backward barbaric practice did not warrant a single successful prosecution in the UK, for the same reason that Muslim grooming gangs were covered up for so long.  Now the Home Office has released a new advert and an overhaul to their advice.

While a solitary FGM conviction and a cosy circle meeting in South Yorkshire is nowhere near enough to combating these disgusting crimes, at least they're now prepared to talk about them.  That's a start - and more than would have happened under a comrade Corbyn government.

REMAIN... ON THE FENCE

Jeremy Corbyn's most recent Brexit u-turn (if you can keep up) will keep him firmly under the cosh from both sides.  While he remains committed to holding a second referendum (in direct contradiction of Labour's 2017 manifesto), he says Labour would sit on the fence in that referendum.  Good luck getting all your MPs on board with that policy!  Several have already indicated they would ignore such a strategy and openly campaign for Remain.  Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford has also announced he would back Remain and has instructed Welsh members to follow suit (despite the fact Wales voted Leave in 2016).

However, Jezza actually has some support for his policy of neutrality.  That support has been mobilised by Rotherham Constituency Labour Party by way of a motion to be submitted to the forthcoming party conference (see below, click to enlarge).

One might commend Rotherham CLP for resisting the full-on Remain stance, but why can't they actually support the huge Leave mandate that was handed to them in 2016 by the Rotherham electorate?  The constituency returned one of the strongest Leave votes in the country at 68%, yet the local Labour Party would rather sit on the fence and, by proxy, ignore their instruction by supporting another referendum.

Curiously there is no mention of Rotherham's MP in the motion or the accompanying letter.  That's probably because Sarah Champion has ideas of her own.  She recently caused a stir among Remainers by not only daring to suggest that the Leave mandate should be implemented, but that she would personally opt for a no deal exit over revocation.  Watch the shocking exchange below, courtesy of Politics Live (don't watch if you are of a remoan disposition).

There will have been some tea and coffee spat out that lunchtime.

MAKE YOUR OWN IMPACT

You don't need to be a member of a political party to be a political activist.  None of the main contributors to BTLP are members of any party and yet we are making a political impact.  Today you will hopefully make your own political impact by delivering a decisive blow to the Remain lobby.  All you have to do is vote.

A Brexit Party landslide won't mean the work is done, far from it.  Going forward you can do your own thing, from a local level right up to the Houses of Treason.  Take this chap, Simon Ball.  He was keeping an eye on things at Rotherham Council and spotted something awry...

Boom!  Did you see it?  Awesome activism from Simon Ball, and all from the power of his fingertips.

Vote TODAY!

PEER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL OFFENCES

Baron Ahmed of Rotherham has been charged with three sexual offences.  The Times reports that the charges - two attempted rapes and one indecent assault - relate to a girl and a boy under the age of 13.  Two men have been charged alongside Ahmed - Mohamed Farouq, 68, accused of four indecent assaults, and Mohammed Tariq, 63, accused of two counts of indecent assault.  All three men are from Rotherham.  The attacks allegedly took place in the 1970s.

Lord Ahmed already has a criminal record dating back to 2009 when he was convicted of dangerous driving.  He escaped the more serious charge of causing death by dangerous driving, despite the fact he killed a man on the M1 after having sent several text messages while at the wheel of his Jaguar.  He served just 16 days of a 12 week sentence.

Lord Nazir Ahmed was born in Pakistan and came to Britain in the late 1960s as a child.  He joined the Labour party in 1975, aged 18.  He became Rotherham's first Muslim councillor in 1990 and was appointed a life peer in 1998.

He was suspended by Labour in 2013 after giving an interview in which he blamed a 'Jewish conspiracy' for his conviction.  He resigned the party whip two days before his case was due to be heard by Labour's National Executive Committee.

Last month Lord Ahmed was accused of 'taking advantage of vulnerable women' in his role as a peer.

MOST SHARED: WEEK 189

This old meme was rolled out again as the abhorrent antics of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council were exposed once more.  Not content with aiding and abetting the Muslim rape gangs for decades, the council decided that rapists who had impregnated their victims had 'rights to access'.

Featuring one of Labour's arch feminists (the odious hypocrite Harriet Harman) this meme was shared 848 times via our Facebook page.

THE NEVER-ENDING SHAME OF ROTHERHAM COUNCIL

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council first received reports of child grooming in the town as early as 1999.  No-one was prosecuted until 2010.  The Jay Report of 2014 exposed collusion to such an extent that both the council leader (Labour's Roger Stone) and its chief executive both subsequently resigned.  The council's director of children's services (also Labour) initially refused to resign, but eventually bowed down to pressure.  Three Labour councillors were suspended by the party (one was later reinstated).  Local MP Sarah Champion was sacked from the front bench after daring to mention the very specific demographics related to the case ie. that the victims were overwhelmingly Pakistani Muslim men and the victims were overwhelmingly white.  A later inquiry deemed the council "not fit for purpose" and Stone's successor as council leader also resigned.

Today it has been revealed that Rotherham Council is continuing to assist the rapists.

Sammy Woodhouse was 15 when she was raped and impregnated by Arshid Hussain.  In a staggering move Rotherham Council have contacted Miss Woodhouse to inform her that Hussain has a 'right to access'.  This is actually much worse than it sounds because Hussain didn't contact the council - they contacted him!  Quite how a man who is serving 35 years in prison is going to have access to the child is left to the imagination.

Sickening.

ANOTHER ROTHERHAM GANG CONVICTED

Another week, another familiar collection of paedophiles.  The six Rotherham men pictured were convicted today along with a seventh, who mysteriously 'cannot be named for legal reasons'.  An eighth defendant was acquitted.

The story is depressingly familiar.  The men, all of Pakistani origin, preyed on young vulnerable white girls.  One of the victims reported her abduction and rape in 2002, but South Yorkshire Police did nothing.  Another fell pregnant and her parents understandably sought an abortion.  Another told the trial that she had slept with 'at least' 100 Asian men before the age of 16.  The numbers are staggering and the crimes date back to the 1990s, yet presently there have been only 39 convictions related to child sexual exploitation in Rotherham.

In years to come we will be asking why no-one from South Yorkshire Police or Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council was convicted.  Without their cover-up these gangs would not have been able to operate as freely as they did for three decades.

MEMES FOR THE DAY 19/09/18

The hashtag #FBPE apparently means 'Follow Back Pro-EU'.  What this individual displays here is not so much 'pro-EU' as anti-British.  What happened at Chemnitz was a German man was stabbed to death by Merkel's migrants resulting in a German backlash.  Nothing to do with flags or nationalism.  Idiot.

Facebook page Stronger Rotherham, preaching strength and unity, just don't mention the biggest scandal to hit that town in living memory.

ROTHERHAM COUNCILLOR UNDER FIRE

Rotherham's day centres for people with learning disabilities continue to be threatened by closure.  The councillor in charge - David Roche - recently appeared at the grand opening of a new service dedicated to helping junkies and alcoholics.  Poor timing.  A new petition has been launched to oppose the proposed cuts, signatures welcome (click on link)

MOST SHARED: WEEK 173

It's unlikely that we'll ever let nasty Naz Shah forget this moment of Twitter glory, or Little Owen for that matter.  The idea for this meme came from one of our own Twitter followers who suggested that it was now she who should "shut her mouth for the good of diversity".

One of the put downs of the year and shared 3,166 times on our Facebook page.
