There was a lull in arrivals at the beginning of the week, but a flurry of boats began to arrive as Macron was wrapping up his state visit to the UK. The absurd 'one in, one out' deal he struck with Starmer will make little - if any - difference to the trajectory of arrivals. The deal will reportedly be limited to just fifty migrants per week, which is a drop in the ocean when hundreds can arrive in just one day.
Brits don't want to replace boat migrants with other migrants. They want the boats stopped and those who are here illegally turfed out. Pronto.
