Several hundred Brexiteers braved high winds and rain near Sunderland this morning to embark on their mammoth 270 mile march to Westminster. Nigel Farage and Kate Hoey were among the high profile politicians taking part. A small number of remoaners turned up also, letting off blue and yellow flares and generally haranguing the Brexiteers. Things could turn nasty along the way, but day one passed off relatively peacefully.
