LIVE GENERAL ELECTION UPDATES 2019

06:02

I bid you goodnight, or good morning.  There are a handful of seats left to declare, but the nightmare of a coalition of chaos has been totally smashed.

Hope you've enjoyed the coverage, feel free to drop a couple of quid in the donation box on the right hand side.

There will be something appearing on Facebook in the next hour or two apparently, after that it will go quiet for a wee while as I get some sleep.

Thanks for your support, Richey.

05:59

05:57

Andrew Neil just called them a cult.  Top drawer!

05:56

Andrew Neil is rinsing a Momentum activist on the Beeb.  I should go to bed really, but I'll just watch this.

05:54

Joking asides, have any Lib Dems done those maths yet?  Have we actually just voted against Brexit again?  Will we see the remoaners on the streets again or will they give up now?

05:52

Blackford comfortably safe, oh well.  But if we add up all the votes from the other parties...

05:51

05:43

Jess Phillips is a "serious player" with regards to the leadership?  Have I slipped into an alternative universe?  If Thornberry and Phillips are the best Labour has to offer they will never be elected again.

05:41

Conservative majority now 56

05:39

The name Emily Thornberry has just been mentioned in the same sentence as potential leader.  Am I hallucinating?

05:36

05:34

Off the top of my head with the In Focus predictions, I can think of two gains I got wrong and one I got right.  Will look back through them and see how I did overall.  At some point.  After I've had some sleep and put the Christmas tree up.

05:32

Ian Austin, good lad

05:29

05:26

Jim Murphy's on the Beeb now, I always had time for him.  He is the first one tonight who has said that promising shit loads of free stuff was "not credible"

05:25

Deluded Corbynistas lashing out at Ruth Smeeth (now a former MP) just for a change.  They can't see and never will see that Corbyn and their failed hard left politics is the problem.

05:21

I do hope Jess Loudmouth Phillips throws her hat in the ring for the leadership and gets humiliated.

05:19

05:18

Tories gain Keighley.  What was that about a red wall?

05:16

Bolsover was the Tory gain that gave them victory.  The barnacle won't like that, oh no.  Having a little chuckle to myself.

05:14

The Lib Dems couldn't even take Sheffield Hallam after that pile of shit Jared O'Mara car crash. Disastrous night for Labour, disastrous for the Lib Dems too.

05:13

05:11

I'm beyond tired now.

05:09

05:08

The Lib Dems had their eye on Golders Green, but Luciana Berger has failed.  Haven't spotted Chuka's seat yet, but I assume that all of the Change UK muppet founders have now binned themselves.

05:06

So I turned to Sky to escape the Cooper-Balls and I've ended up with Bercow.  The only thing I can say is that for all his Brexit blocking antics he's utterly failed.  Going back to the Beeb.

05:05

Dennis Skinner gone!

05:04

05:03

05:01

Conservatives have now WON the election.  Farewell, Jeremy

05:00

So I've switched to ITV and her bloody husband is still on.  Just can't escape Cooper-Balls.  Sky?

04:59

Yvette Cooper's on the Beeb now.  Tempted to switch channels.

04:57

The opinion polls were fairly correct 2-3 weeks ago, but this late Labour surge in the last few days was clearly bollocks.

04:56

04:55

Tories need 14 to win

04:54

Chris Williamson, expelled from Labour, stood as an independent and not only lost his deposit - he watched his seat turn blue.  Glorious.

04:53

04:52

04:51

Boris has smashed it.  Corbyn has to go.  John Mann tells it like it is.

04:51

22 seats, 21 seats

04:50

Tories now 23 seats from victory

04:49

John Mann and Gina Miller are on the Beeb together.  Should be interesting.

04:46

Laura Pidcock - the 'future leader' has gone.  Hilarious.

04:45

04:43

04:42

Bolsover is one of the seats left to declare - will the barnacle cling on?

04:39

Graham Stringer has held his seat - he is possibly the only Labour Brexiteer left standing as most of them have been driven out

04:36

SNP voter on the Beeb - "We want our independence and we want to be in the EU".  When will they realise they can't have both?

04:35

04:34

Dent-Coad has gone.  She won't be missed.

04:33

04:31

Caroline Flint lashes out at the left and is asked what she does next.  She's going for a cuppa, well she is quite welcome at our house for that cuppa.  She's one of the only good ones and she's paid the price for the actions of those leftist parasites.

04:26

Stoke-on-Trent voting Tory.  What red wall?

04:25

04:24

04:23

Jess Phillips safe, as I predicted many times, but I was told no, no she's binned.

04:20

04:19

The witch Caroline Lucas is safe in Brighton Pavilion.  Just for a change there will be one Green MP at the end of this election.

04:18

04:16

04:15

04:14

04:12

04:10

04:09

04:08

Sturgeon the stuck record is on again.  Scots voted in 2014 - you said it was a once in a generation poll - a generation is not five years.  Next

04:06

Yvette Cooper's majority was slashed, but she's clung on.  Some moderates are now rallying around her for the leadership.  Depressing.

04:05

04:04

Some bad news coming in 1,2,3

04:03

Glasgow has fallen, the last Labour seat has turned piss yellow.  Ten years ago unthinkable.

04:02

04:00

03:59

03:57

03:56

03:54

Paul Mason says Brexit is an attack on the working class ie. those who voted for it and have just thumped Labour for blocking it.  Great analysis and more of the metropolitan elitist nonsense that bred the Brexit vote in the first place.

03:53

Paul Mason's on the Beeb, this should be interesting

03:52

03:51

03:48

Jo Swinson says nationalism is rising on both sides of the Scottish border.  Rubbish.  The SNP are leftist fake nationalists and as for the English side?  Who are you on about?

03:47

03:46

03:44

03:43

Jo Swinson very narrowly loses her seat.  Another new party leader will have to be sought

03:42

Nice t-shirt on the bloke to the left of Boris

03:41

03:39

Boris Johnson holds Uxbridge & Ruislip

03:37

Elmo is back again, but this time he/she is following Boris Johnson around

03:36

Why is the BBC spending so much time attacking Dominic Raab and the fact he 'almost' lost his seat?

03:35

03:34

03:33

03:30

Caroline Flint has gone.  As I noted earlier, this is so unfair when the likes of Yvette Cooper and Jess Phillips appear to be safe.  She has paid the price for their actions.

03:29

03:28

A warm embrace for Corbyn from Lady Nugee, no failed high fives this time around

03:26

Corbynista Aaron Bastani claims that the "biggest story tonight" is the loss of a seat for the DUP in Northern Ireland.  Really?

03:22

BREAKING NEWS - Corbyn says he will not lead the party into another election

03:21

03:20

03:19

Having to skip some results now as I'm getting RSI.  Also it's a good moment to take stock and listen to the Great Leader.  It may be one of the last times we hear from him as the not so Great Leader.

03:18

03:17

Corbyn is standing in a Tory/Brexit sandwich.  His blood must be boiling.

03:16

We're off to Islington now, the heartland of today's Labour Party

02:32

What Richard Burgon is currently saying on the Beeb proves that a Labour government would have been very sinister indeed.  Is he saying that a Labour government would curtail freedom of the press?

02:31

02:25

02:24

02:23

Jon Lansman is in complete denial.  The Great Leader can do no wrong.  Meanwhile, the Great Leader has just arrived in Islington at the count.  You could hear a doornail drop.

02:22

02:20

Corbyn is arriving at his count.  There are no chants of "Oooh Jeremy Corbyn".

Ian Lavery bemoaning the fact that Labour have ignored the 17.4 million.  Lavery has voted to block Brexit at every opportunity - take some responsibility you hypocrite

01:49

01:47

01:41

01:37

Bungling Burgon is on Sky

01:35

Damned racists mocking our Diane on Twitter!

01:34

01:33

Just listen to Heidi Allen slating the Conservatives.  She was elected as a Tory in 2017!

01:32

Arron Banks is on the Beeb alongside Heidi Allen, this will be interesting

01:31

I make that three Tory gains from Labour now and all beyond the red wall!!

01:30

01:27

Two gains amid that bundle.  Tories gain Workington from Labour, the seat that would supposedly decide which way the election went.  SNP gain from Labour in first Scottish result.

01:26

01:23

01:21

Interesting point from Dan Hodges here.  BTLP have hammered Labour as the 'Party of London' for months now, will Labour realise that they can no longer continue under this perception?

01:18

01:17

Ian Lavery has clung on, I'm gutted.

01:16

Kate Hoey's still trolling the lot of them

01:12

Just took a quick look at the latest YouGov MRP poll seat by seat analysis.  They had Blyth Valley down as "Likely Labour Hold".  It looks like the original MRP poll from two weeks ago was much closer to the mark.

01:08

Reports that Labour could hold in Edinburgh South against the SNP onslaught, but he will probably be their only MP in Scotland come the dawn

01:07

01:06

Kate Hoey is just the best!!!

01:04

Apparently there is a recount in Wansbeck - Ian Lavery's seat.  This would be massive if the Tories could unseat that hypocrite

01:03

00:59

Oh, no there's even better.  Now I actually do need to go for a piss.

00:57

They actually had 'Corbyn Victory Ale'.  Pissing myself now

00:55

Ten seats have been declared so far, with only one seat changing hands - Lab to Con.  These are the vote share changes versus 2017.

Con +2.1
Lab -9.9
Lib Dem +3.0

00:54

Update on Yvette Cooper.  It appears that she is not only likely to hold on, her name is being thrown around as a potential successor for Corbyn.  Slightly depressing.

00:51

00:48

Anyone looking in who is worried about all these Labour holds, don't panic.  All these seats are in safe Labour territory and there are still around 640 results to go.  The Labour vote share so far is down by double figures while the Tories are up.

00:47

00:44

#KeirStarmer is still trending on Twitter and I can tell you that it's not because he's about to lose his seat!  The vultures are circling before Corbyn's political corpse is cold.

00:43

Can remoaner Robert Peston sound any more despondent and depressed?  The bias is strong in this one.

00:41

00:39

Haven't seen much from Stormzy or Steve Coogan tonight.

00:38

The moment Alan Johnson lays into Jon Lansman

00:36

Ian Blackford cocky as ever.  Such a shame, he was thought to be under threat before the election.

00:32

00:31

Lucy Powell:  "We've got a lot of middle class members now".  Yes, you have, and the working classes are rinsing you blind tonight.

00:28

Jon Lansman, founder of Momentum - "Socialism is mainstream now".  Oh dear.  May want to update that profile.

00:26

00:23

Labour's Gareth Snell has just told a journalist that's he's a goner in Stoke Central

00:22

Gina Miller has finally admitted we are going to Leave the European Union.  I should go to bed now, but alas I will not.

00:18

Karl has made a video for the dawn.  The trolls are apparently going to hate it.  Should be on Facebook before he leaves for work about 07:30

00:17

Gina Miller is on ITV, this should be glorious...

00:15

Ben Bradshaw blames the leadership rather than Brexit, but then he would say that as he is a big remoaner.  Ben normally blames the Russians.

00:14

00:12

Before we switch, to date Labour have held three and the Tories have gained one (from Labour)

00:10

Going to switch sources now and go to the BBC for results - they're much snazzier, although they don't show the change in vote share.

00:09

00:06

RESULT - Newcastle-upon-Tyne East

Lab: 60.1% (-7.5)
Con: 24.4% (+3.1)
Lib Dem: 10.5% (+4.3)
Green: 5.1% (+3.3)

Lab HOLD

00:03

Lansman just asked a bloke in his forties whether he remembers Atlee?  Lost the plot haven't you Jonno, just like you appear to be losing this election

00:01

Economist Kate Andrews mocks the Corbynista yoof...

23:59

Hearing that Dennis Skinner is in real trouble in Bolsover.  The barnacle had his eye on being the oldest MP in Parliamentary history.  Not likely by the sound of it.

23:57

Alan Johnson's piling in now!  Watch ITV!!!!

23:55

Moderate Ed Balls has just demolished hard left Lansman and then smirked at the end of it.  Can't stand Ed or his disgusting remoaner wife, but well done sir!

23:53

Jon Lansman is being kept on the other side of the ITV studio away from George Osborne.  Just can't trust the violent left.

23:51

While it's great to hear that the likes of Pidcock may go, I have just read that Yvette Cooper is somehow likely to keep her seat.  How???  Just how????????????

23:49

Hearing again that Laura Pidcock (the 'future leader' no less) is in real trouble in North West Durham

23:47

Leftists turning on each other.  Delicious!

23:46

No, shenanigans is not an Irish pub

23:45

Shenanigans in Paisley...

23:44

Labour's Ian Murray blames Corbyn, not Brexit

23:40

Too funny

23:39

Fighting talk from this hard left Corbynista

23:37

Blyth Valley has been held by Labour since 1931.  Regardless of the exit poll, it doesn't look great does it Jez?

23:35

That last result was a stunner.  First Tory gain of the night - and crucially beyond the red wall!

23:33

RESULT - Blyth Valley

Con: 42.7% (+5.4)
Lab: 40.9% (-15.0)
Brexit: 8.3% (+8.3)
Lib Dem: 5.3% (+0.7)
Green: 2.8% (+0.6)

Con GAIN

23:31

Remember folks, these first results are in safe Labour territory.  The north east was one of only two regions outside London where Labour were leading the polls.

23:30

RESULT - Houghton & Sunderland South

Lab: 40.7% (-18.8)
Con: 32.9% (+3.2)
Brexit: 15.5% (+15.5)
Lib Dem: 5.8% (+3.6)
Green: 2.8% (+1.1)

Lab HOLD

23:27

RESULT - Newcastle-upon-Tyne Central

Lab: 57.6% (-7.3)
Con: 24.8% (+0.2)
Lib Dem: 7.2% (+2.3)
Brexit: 6.8% (+6.8)
Green: 3.6% (+2.0)

Lab HOLD

23:24

Little Owen is on ITV.  Look at his face, just look at the hurt!!!

23:23

The Brexit legend that is Grimesy is another one who has changed his Twitter name to wind up Corbynistas...

23:21

Kate Hoey's on the Beeb now.  She's absolutely loving it, bless her

23:20

After racing to become the first to declare, Blyth Valley will now have a (partial) recount!

23:19

23:15

23:14

After being told for the last half an hour that Blyth Valley is "imminent" I am now hearing that there could be a recount!

23:12

Yes it is!  Here's the original tweet.  Disgusting, who does he think he is?  Jess Foulmouth Phillips?

23:10

Not sure if this is genuine as I can't find the original tweet, but if so this is very poor from a Labour MP

23:08

The "future leader" Pidcock at risk!  Ooh let's hope so...

23:07

At some point Blyth Valley will declare.  At some point.

23:06

Corbyn critic Wes Streeting piles on the pain for the Labour leadership

23:01

22:58

Got to grab a cold one, back in a couple of minutes.

22:57

#KeirStarmer is trending also.  Is the leadership contest up and running already?  They've buried Corbyn after an exit poll, before a single result has been announced!

22:55

#CorbynOut is trending on Twitter

22:54

Labour to blame defeat on Brexit?  No, they are to blame for blocking Brexit.  They should have stuck to their 2017 manifesto pledge of respecting the result!

22:52

Blyth Valley expected to declare any minute.  Turnout there is actually down slightly on 2017.

22:51

22:48

Caroline Flint, a Remainer who respected the referendum result and has backed Brexit countless times this year, is set to lose her seat tonight.  Other Labour MPs who have blocked Brexit at every opportunity against the wishes of their constituents will probably cling on.  Flint is one of the few who doesn't deserve this.

22:45

Brexiteer leftist George Galloway hits out at Owen Jones, Paul Mason and Clive Lewis

22:44

First result is expected in the next few minutes, apparently

22:42

Fighting talk from Liam Byrne - you'll remember him, he was the one that left the note in 2010 - "I'm afraid there is no money"

22:40

I've just heard that Jo Swinson is in big danger of losing her seat tonight or should we say she's in danger of being revoked?

22:38

Guido Fawkes reporter has actually changed his Twitter name to mock Corbynistas

22:37

But will loudmouth Jess fall tonight?

22:35

Excuse my flippant remarks, just filling dead time until the results start coming in.  And also still in shock from the exit poll.

22:34

How long before Ben Bradshaw blames the Russians?

22:32

"Labour vote expected to fall heavily in north and Midlands" - BBC headline.  That's why it was called the Brexit election.

22:29

If the exit poll is correct, will the remaining Labour moderates wrest back control from the hard left?  Hope not.  This will prove that Britain does not and will not back communists.

22:26

"Extremely disappointing" says McDonnell.  Andrew Neil says "It's a bit more than that"

22:25

The hideous hard left journalist Paul Mason is not bitter at all about the exit poll

22:22

22:18

Can't get direct link to Little Owen's account because he's blocked us, but this tweeter has screencapped his immediate response and it's glorious!

22:16

McDonnell is despondent

22:14

The fact that Laura Kuenssberg is presenting will infuriate Corbynistas even more than they already are

22:11

22:09

22:08

Wow.  Just wow.  Lots of tears on Twitter, but the REAL poll is yet to come.

22:00

Exit poll result in full

Con  368
Lab  191
SNP  55
Lib Dem  13
Plaid 3
Green 1

Verdict:  Conservative majority

19:52

Election updates will appear here from 22:00hrs beginning with the BBC's exit poll.  Speaking of the exit poll, here's a great video featuring every exit poll since 1992.  It was wrong that year as it predicted a hung Parliament, but the Tories won a majority.  However, since then it has been fairly accurate.  It predicted all three Labour victorys and the hung Parliaments of 2010 and 2017.  However, there was a blip in 2015 when it again predicted a hung Parliament, but the Tories won a majority.  The upshot is that when tonight's poll is announced at 22:00 don't despair if it predicts another hung Parliament!
