TORIES GAIN HARTLEPOOL


The Conservatives have taken Hartlepool from Labour with a 16 per cent swing.  It is the first time Labour have lost the seat since its creation in 1974 and the first time the town of Hartlepool has had a Conservative MP since 1964.  The 16 per cent swing is the largest swing to a governing party since World War II.
